Media and the public are invited attend the Calforex Cup #4 Biathlon Competition. This will be an individual and sprint competition. Racing starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 7th and 10:30 AM Sunday, February 8th.
We are arranging for photo ops from strategic locations on Sunday. Media can arrive by 10:30 AM, as there will be several heats of about 20 minutes each. We will arrange for interviews at that time as well. April Weavell will be available to meet any media in attendance.
Where: Wapiti Nordic Ski Trails
Go past the lodge, travel up the hill to the quonset on the right – this is the location of the sprint competition on Sunday.
When: Saturday – race time starts at 10:00 AM (individual)
Sunday – race time starts at 10:30 AM (sprint)
What: About 100 young athletes from across the province will be in attendance for this provincial race.
The race will serve as a test event for the 2010 Arctic Winter Games. Volunteers in the areas of medical, sport, scoring, facilities, and media relations will be assessing various aspects of the race in preparation for the 2010 Games next March.
The Arctic Winter Games is an international sport and cultural event that provides Northern youth with an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and showcase their talents. The 2010 Games will be held in Grande Prairie from March 6-13.
